That includes 9 from Dalton's list, 7 from Adam's, 6 from Dan's, and 3 from Dave's, with some overlap, of course.

What amazes me is that I only listened to 54 of those 123 albums in researching this project. I pore through over 1,000 albums over four years, and you guys just named 69 albums I didn't even bother with (most of which I've never heard) among your favorites. There's a lot of music out there.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6230895.post-84286376657335345272013-01-15T19:09:14.672-05:002013-01-15T19:09:14.672-05:00Hey, Dan ... I think I would counterbalance the one that started in 1991. Somehow I lost the 2000's in having a small child run my life (as you are seeing this year, not having been to any major league games!)dsbowershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09177350708233112911noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6230895.post-26436162380936573712013-01-12T15:35:13.243-05:002013-01-12T15:35:13.243-05:00Thanks for adding your picks Sally.

The Police might sneak in there too, but probably Zenyatta or Regatta. Just a few women to add to the mix (not counting Lucinda's "Car Wheels..." and Joni's "Blue", both classics):

- Ani Difranco, "Little Plastic Castle"
- Rosanne Cash, "Black Cadillac"
- Shawn Colvin, "A Few Small Repairs"
- Erin McKeown, "Distillation"
- Gillian Welch, entire catalog, though if pressed for one, I'd pick "Time (The Revelator)"
- Mary Chapin Carpenter, "Come On, Come On" with "Between Here and Gone" a very close second

And a few guys and/or bands I'd add (purposefully not repeating any already listed):

- John Prine, "John Prine" and "Bruised Orange"
- Billy Bragg, "Must I Paint You a Picture" (yes, the Essential, because he is)
- Bruce Cockburn, "Dart to the Heart" (hard to pick only one)
- REM, "Document"
- Talking Heads, "Little Creatures"
- Elvis Costello & the Attractions, "Punch the Clock"
- The Police, "Synchronicity"
- They Might Be Giants, "Flood"
- The Housemartins (my very favorite band of the 80s), "Now That's What I Call Quite Good"

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
